The mayor of Zhytomyr and the ambassador of the Republic of Belarus handed over to TTU drivers keys from trolleybuses which start routes in the end of week

In a few days, five new Belarusian-manufactured vehicles will be launched on Zhytomyr’s trolleybus routes. The keys to the first five trolleybuses were handed over to the drivers of Zhytomyr TTU by the mayor Serhiy Sukhomlyn and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus in Ukraine Ihor Sokol.

“Last year we held an economic forum and we signed a memorandum on the supply of trolleybuses for Zhytomyr city. And today we have the first five trolleybuses and together with the ambassador, we are handing them over to our Municipal Enterprise so that they can run the routes in Zhytomyr in a few days, ”Mayor Serhiy Sukhomlyn said.

“Zhytomyr has become the capital of the Ukrainian-Belarusian cooperation since October last year, until the third Forum of the Regions takes place. We’ve arrived today to fulfill an honorable mission and hand over five Belkommunmash trolleybuses. They were assembled and is going to be assembled in Ukraine, in Lutsk. The remaining trolleybuses will be assembled and delivered to Zhytomyr by the end of the year. Why am I so interested in this event? Because the main priority of the Embassy and any foreign institution in Belarus is the economy. I would like to inform that as an ambassador I report to the Government of the Republic of Belarus once a quarter on the quality of equipment delivered to the country of accreditation or the country of stay. If there are any complaints, I will get in touch with the drivers directly who drive this vehicle, so that in case of complaints, they are free to go directly to the embassy. We will respond. But I think that the citizens of Zhytomyr and the city administration will not have any complaints, because the vehicle is reliable, and it is operated both in Belarus and abroad. And I want to thank the mayor personally and all the deputies of the city council for giving such confidence to the Belarusian vehicles. We will not let you down, “said Igor Sokol, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus in Ukraine.

The new trolleybuses are already driven along the streets of Zhytomyr and will start the city’s central routes at the end of the week. Drivers say that the new vehicles are very difficult to be compared with the old trolleybuses, which are now available for the company.

“This is a novelty that meets all modern requirements. A new generation vehicle that you can dream about. Finally, we have already got them. The best thing is that there is an autonomous drive. If there is an accident, an obstacle, you need to avoid, you press the button and remove the bars. This is convenient for both passengers and us. It’s never used to be built in before in trolleybuses, these are our first models. It can drive near a kilometer in this mode as this is a decent distance for this type of vehicle”says Valery Dokanov, driver of the Zhytomyr Tram and Trolleybus Department.

We are happy to inform that two new Belarusian trolleybuses from the first batch were delivered to Zhytomyr on June, 19.
